Thaw the shrimp (if frozen).

Place shrimp in a resealable plastic bag then pour beer and add garlic and hot sauce (optional).

Squeeze out as much air as possible and reseal bag. Turn the bag a few times to make sure shrimp is well coated with the marinade. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least two hours and up to four.

Preheat grill to a medium-high heat (375 to 400 degrees).

Place shrimp on skewers or directly on grill and discard marinade.

Grill for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, until bright pink and cooked through.
